One of the classic variations of Coalport's Aesthetic Movement patterns, this set of 12 side plates features gold overlay on a cobalt blue and white "Japonism" theme. The blue and white checkered border frames the central motif of birds in flight and bamboo with another checkered border in the center. These are elegant yet understated and would be perfect for dessert, bread and butter plates or canapes. Made in England in the period of Japonisme, circa 1920's. Gilt and enameled porcelain. Excellent condition, wear consistent with age and use.
