This is an unusually decorated pair of Vieux Paris cachepots in that the body is decorated in a matte black enamel and further embellished with butterflies in flight. The butterflies are interspersed with gold leaves and sheaves of wheat with the border painted in deep red enamel and gold. These are the perfect size for plants, orchids or classic topiary. They would also look outstanding on a mantle or sideboard. Both are in excellent condition aside from some wear to red enamel border and a bit of the black commensurate with age.
