This is an unusual set of 12 19th century. Derby dessert/luncheon plates with birds in flight in four colors in a Classic aesthetic movement pattern. There three each, of the four earth-tone colors pictured: Imari Orange, blue, black and reddish-brown. The borders are decorated with a "Japonesque" combination of flowers, branches and birds in flight, framed by fretwork borders. The centers feature one single bird flying off in the distance. These would set a singular table with the unexpected color scheme.
